Car Finance NZ
Know your rate before the yard does.
Dealer, private sale or import. One application, compared across a panel of NZ lenders, so the number on the windscreen is the only one left to negotiate.
Walk in pre-armed, not hopeful
Dealer finance is priced for the dealer. Members check their rate before they walk in, compare it against what the yard offers, and take whichever is genuinely better. No awkward moment at the finance desk, no signing under fluorescent lights.

Questions? We've got answers
Can I get finance for a private sale?
Yes. Panel lenders finance private sales as well as dealer and import purchases. The paperwork is slightly different, and your adviser walks you through it, including the PPSR check that protects you from buying a car with money still owing on it.
What is a PPSR check and do I need one?
The Personal Property Securities Register records whether money is still owed against a car. If you buy one with a security over it, the lender behind that debt can repossess it from you. The check costs a couple of dollars, takes minutes, and we treat it as non-negotiable on private sales. Read our PPSR guide for the full picture.
Should I just take the dealer's finance?
Compare it, at least. Dealer finance is convenient, but the dealer is paid on it, and the rate reflects that. Checking your rate before you walk in costs nothing and gives you a number to hold theirs against. Sometimes the dealer sharpens up. Either way, you win.
What about balloon payments?
A balloon is a lump sum left owing at the end of the term in exchange for lower repayments along the way. It can suit some buyers, but the total payable is usually higher, and you need a plan for the lump sum. Every offer we show includes the balloon in the total, so the comparison stays honest.
Will checking my rate affect my credit score?
No. Checking your rate with BorrowClub does not affect your credit score.2 A hard enquiry only happens if you choose an offer and ask the lender to proceed.
